Use it when you need to change a document you only have as a PDF: updating a contract clause, reusing a report's tables, correcting a CV or editing a form letter. How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word document?
Select the PDF, click Convert to Word and download the DOCX. You can edit it straight away in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages. There is no signup.
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
For documents created in Word or Google Docs, the text, headings, tables, images and columns come through closely. Heavily designed layouts can shift, because a PDF places every item at a fixed spot while Word flows text. Check spacing before you send the file on.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?
Yes. When a page is only a picture, PDFVerge reads the words with OCR and gives you editable text. Scans lose the original fonts and styling, and OCR can misread unclear print, so check names and numbers. OCR currently reads English text.
Is my file stored on your server?
No. It is uploaded over HTTPS, converted and deleted in the same request. We keep only a technical log line (file size, page count and whether it worked), never the file or its contents.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
If the PDF needs a password to open, remove the password first, then convert it. PDFs that open freely but block copying or printing convert as normal.
Is there a size or page limit?
Files up to 50 MB and 200 pages. Scanned PDFs are read page by page, so the limit for scans is 30 pages. Split a longer file into parts with the Split PDF tool and convert each part.
Is PDF to Word free?
Yes. There is no signup and no watermark on your document.
